Emergency Grants & Emergency Travel Funds for Artists & Performing Artists

(ARTISTS & PERFORMING ARTISTS) Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grants
—Created in 1993, Emergency Grants provides speedy funding for visual and performing artists who have unanticipated, sudden opportunities to present their work to the public, or who incur unexpected or unbudgeted expenses for projects close to completion with committed exhibition or performance dates. The grants are intended to support the creation of innovative and experimental work, and are meant to assist individuals and groups when there is insufficient time to seek other sources of funding.

Requests are primarily granted to artists who are "emerging" and have few sources of financial support. Emergency Grants is the only active, multi-disciplinary program that offers immediate assistance of this kind to artists working anywhere in the United States.

Emergency Grants applications are accepted year round; there is no deadline. There is no application form; please check the website for application requirements. Grants are determined on a monthly basis by the Emergency Grants Panel, a volunteer committee of established artists. In 2010, grants ranged in amount from $200 to $2,000; the average grant was $900.

Special funds for travel to Asia, Central Europe and Eastern Europe:

In addition to providing support for artists with immediate needs related to performing and exhibition opportunities, FCA has special funds for last-minute or unexpected travel or other expenses for US-based artists presenting work throughout Asia, Central Europe and Eastern Europe. Such requests must meet general Emergency Grants program guidelines in order to be eligible.

International Artist Call: Study Grant for Switzerland and Residencies in Brazil and Detroit

Greetings all...If any of you are local (in Western Massachusetts), I will be doing my last two local readings this coming week—this Tuesday, Oct. 25 at the University of Massachusetts and on Thursday, Oct. 27th at Greenfield Community College. (NORWEGIAN ARTISTS, POETS, SCHOLARS & CURATORS) INSTITUTE FOR NEO-CONNOTATIVE ACTIONDeadline: November 15th, 2011
UKS and INCA announce a new residence program. We are currently accepting applications to attend the INCA residence program in Detroit during the spring 2012. The residence program is open for Norwegian based artists, poets, scholars and curators. Possible projects could include publications, community work or volunteering, exhibitions, performances, and research. In the proposal we are looking for an intended working approach and not neccesarily a detailed project description. These scholarships provide graduates from all fields with the opportunity to pursue postgraduate studies or research in Switzerland at a public funded university or recognised institution. Eligibility
* Candidates must hold a university degree (Bachelors/Masters) on commencement of the scholarship.
* Candidates must be able to demonstrate their academic abilities and what they aim to achieve.
* Candidates must contact the institution and/or the professor supervising their period of research. Universities may request supplementary information and/or set certain additional conditions to determine whether or not you qualify for admission.
* Candidates must be under the age of 35 (born on or after 1.1.1977).
* Candidates must be suitably proficient in the language of instruction (French, German, Italian or English). A language test is required.
* Swiss government scholarships may not be combined with other scholarships or awards.

Length and amount
Scholarships are provided for a nine-month academic year. Scholarships for postgraduate or Masters programs lasting up to 2 years (3 or 4 semesters) may be extended depending on results from the first year.

Scholarships consist of monthly payments of:
CHF 1920.- for postgraduate students
CHF 1920.- for fine arts and music students

10,000 Euro Study Abroad Grant for Young Artists: Nov. 15 Deadline!

Jean-Claude Reynal Foundation - 2011 Jean-Claude Reynal Scholarship

A 10,000 EUR grant awarded to a young artist for studies abroad
Deadline: 15th November 2011.

The Jean-Claude Reynal Foundation, under the auspices of the Foundation of France, in collaboration with the Fine Arts School of Bordeaux, offers an annual grant of 10,000 EUR to enable a young artist, who works directly on paper, to travel to a country of his/her choice for a period of 6 months maximum.

Conditions
Candidates must be between 20 and 30 years of age and have had an artistic practice on paper for at least two years. All artists are eligible regardless of educational background or nationality.
50% of the scholarship money will be paid before departure and 50% at the time and place of the residency. The prize winner authorizes the Reynal Foundation to use a work of his/her choice on the media announcing the following year's scholarship competition. The chosen work will be approved by the executive committee.

Research Fellowships for Artists, Scholars and Curators at the Henry Moore Institute in England

(ARTISTS, SCHOLARS & CURATORS) Research Fellowships at the Henry Moore Institute in Leeds, England—The Henry Moore Institute is a world-recognized centre for the study of sculpture in the heart of Leeds and invites applications for the following fellowship programmes in 2012–2013:

Research Fellowships are intended for artists, scholars and curators, working on historic and contemporary sculpture using the Institute’s library, archive of sculptors’ papers and the collection of Leeds Art Gallery. Up to four fellows will be given the opportunity to spend a month in Leeds to develop their own research. With access to our resources and an on-going dialogue with the Institute staff, fellows are free to pursue their own interests in a supportive and stimulating environment.

Senior Fellowships are intended to give established scholars (working on any aspect of sculpture) time and space to develop a research project free from their usual work commitments. Up to two senior fellowships, for periods of between four to six weeks will be offered.
Both fellowships provide accommodation, travel expenses and a per diem. The Institute offers the possibility of presenting finished research in published form, as a seminar, or as a small exhibition.
